Dood, It’s About Time!
These days, most fans of Nippon Ichi are probably bogged down in the middle of Disgaea 3. Heck, I’m one of them and I suspect a good chunk of you guys may be as well. Well, if the latest entry in the tactical RPG series has burned you out or otherwise already gotten stale, worry not. Looks like there’ll be a new addition to the Disgaea universe coming up at the end of November starring our favorite blue, peg-legged penguin fiends:
Titled プリニー ～オレが主人公でイイんスか？～ / Prinny – Ore ga Shujinkou de Iinsuka? (Prinny – Can I be the Hero?), this particular entry into the fan-favorite Disgaea series will be a little different gameplay-wise. Instead of being your standard isometric tactical RPG fare, Prinny’s going to be a side-scrolling action effort that looks to be something along the lines of SNK’s Metal Slug franchise. At first glance, it looks like the sprites look a bit cleaner than what’s been seen before on the PS2 and PS3. However, that could just possibly be me being excited at seeing the characters engage in different animations not seen as they were ad nauseum in the RPGs. Haha, I’m particularly fond of seeing the Prinnies handle large beam-spamming mechanical walkers of death.
A demo of the game will be released on the Playstation Network for download via PS3 come the 29th of this month, so expect more reactions from me then regarding how the actual gameplay flows. Even if it does turn out to be a bland action title, I’m pretty confident that the Prinnies themselves will be able to carry the load to get the title in the PSPs of the Nippon Ichi faithful.
Help this Prinny legion scour the Netherworld for Etna’s stolen candy when the full Japanese retail version drops on November 20!
