Yoko – Fraulein Revoltech PVC/ABS (Kaiyodo)
So here we are with the upcoming tenth release for Kaiyodo’s Fraulein Revoltech series, currently set for release this autumn:
Fresh off being unveiled at this year’s recently concluded Wonder Festival, this particular Fraulein’s packing the most heat out of all the installments in the series. The main visual attraction out of her included accessories has definitely got to be the giant electrical sniper rifle; it’s pretty much as long as Yoko is tall. Given the possible balancing issues for posing a figure with such a large accessory, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the figure’s weight is focused on those sizeable boots Yoko always sports.
Anyway, none of the shots provided at Moeyo! (1, 2, 3, 4) seem to indicate the degree to which Yoko can move her shoulders around. Early Fraulein Revoltech adopters, such as myself, will recall that early entries in the series (in my case the very first release, Rei Ayanami of Neon Genesis Evangelion) featured a detachable component on each figure’s back which provided access to the shoulder sockets. A particularly annoying issue involving the shoulders was that if you swung the arms up high enough, they would catch on body casting of the figure and fudge the back panel loose enough to allow the seamlines to open up in an unsightly manner (and eventually completely detach the arms).
Combine the arm issue with the the dazed look on the face of the Pocco release (which I terribly wanted to get given the character’s design by Shunya Yamashita), and I’ve since abandoned the series for the rival Figma lineup by Good Smile Company. Looks like I’ll be waiting for the reviews to pop up before committing to this one…
Yoko’s tries out Revolver joints starting October 1st for 2300 JPY (~23 USD).
